Introduction to Data Description

After collecting, data have to be described in effective ways in order that it can be understood easily. There are two main ways to present data: by tables and by charts. In general, charts are only constructed after we have tables already. On the other hand, to characterize some general view, we can use quantities representing central tendency and/or dispersion of data.

In this chapter, these contents are distributed as follow:

• Tables
• Frequency distribution of data
• Contingency tables
• Charts
• Measures of central tendency
• Measures of dispersion
• Quantiles

In order to review and reinforce the understanding obtained, quizzes and exercises are introduced at the end of chapter.
